Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Leh

Leh is at an altitude of 11,400 ft. above sea level. Flying over miles and miles of heavily snowed mountains will tell you just why it’s impossible to reach Ladakh by road in the winters. Keep your woolen cap and gloves handy. The moment you land at Leh airport which is one of the highest airports in the world, you will feel the fresh and crisp air and a drastic drop in the temperature. Board the local taxi and move to the informed guest house for the stay.

Day 2 – Acclimatization walk to Shanti Stupa

This day is reserved for acclimatization. Get up early in the morning and we will start the process of acclimatization at such high altitudes and extreme winters. We will take a walk to explore Leh city with destinations such as Shanti Stupa and Leh market. You will also get the opportunity to witness the amazing views of Leh city.

Day 3 – Registration, Medical checkup, and Insurance

This day is reserved for a preliminary medical check-up at SNM hospital. The trek is challenging in nature and all the participants must attain the medical certification before we start Chadar Trek. One will get a certificate only when adequately fit and acclimatized for the trek.

Day 4 – Leh – Shingra Koma – Tsomo Paldar

Enjoy tea and breakfast in the morning and our journey to the trek begins. We will start our journey by driving to Shingra Koma. The beauty of the surrounding high mountains will make you speechless. After a point, we will have to de-board from the vehicle and trek towards Tsomo Paldar campsite.

Day 5 – Tsomo Paldar to Dib cave

Today, we will start our trek to Dib cave/Tibb. During the day, we will behold the breathtaking beauty of the region including ravines and gorges. The trek would be challenging as walking on a frozen river will give an ultimate experience. Our night halt will be at Dib. Butter tea would be offered and we recommend you try it. Enjoy an overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 6 – Dib Cave to Naerak

After breakfast, we will start the trek. This is the most scenic part of the region and we are sure you will love to see a large frozen waterfall and prayer flags. The bridge built next to the site of the waterfall is used in summers to reach Zanskar from Leh. Thereafter, we will proceed towards the village of Naerak to mingle with the locals and understand their way of living. Stay overnight at the village camp comfortably.

Day 7 – Naerak to Dib cave

After breakfast, we start our return trip and proceed towards Tibb. Though it is a return journey, it would not be the same as before. The river quickly reacts to any change in the temperature and might have taken an entirely new form. Enjoy the beauty of the region, click pictures and meet locals. Reach dib cave, relax and stay overnight at the campsite.

Day 8 – Dib cave to Tsomo Paldar to Leh

In the morning, get ready to leave Tibb and proceed towards Shingra Koma, crossing Gyalpo. The trail today will give you a chance to witness high mountains and pugmarks of wild animals like snow leopards, ibex, and foxes. If lucky, you just might spot a leopard. In the evening, drive back to Leh and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 9 – Check out from Leh hotel

As this unforgettable journey gets over, we depart from Leh having a newfound respect for the Zanskaries who brave all odds and survive with style in their beloved land. This trek also leaves behind a tremendous feeling of accomplishment – one of having undertaken and endured an extraordinary and challenging trek.
